Suzie Q's Baby I love you
The first impression I got of Suzie Q's, a medical marijuana collective on Aurora Avenue
in north Seattle, was "Are you sure this is the place?" An undistinguished corrugated metal
building gave no hint of the business being conducted inside. So it wasn't until I was almost
at the front door until I saw the first identifier of any kind: a tiny, postcard-sized "Suzie Q's"
sign with a vintage car and a nostalgia babe on it. Inside, I asked budtender Sweet Christie
(the hippie vibe is strong with this one) about the lack of identifying signage. She told me the
collective prefers to keep a "low profile."

Looking at its website after the fact, I realized I probably had been lucky even to get in.
You don't wanna just show up, as I did. "We are NOT open to the public," the website
reads. "We are By Appointment Only. You Must Call First!" Whoops.
While Sweet Christie checked and verified my paperwork, I noticed all the kitschy,
ironic-hipster décor in the reception area, including Ray Conniff albums on the walls.
A cat sauntered through the room, but just as I reached to pet it, Sweet Christie
warned me that he was a "battle cat," so I aborted that plan.

Fucking Incredible, an indica dominant originally developed on Vancouver Island, lived up to its billing
Just to the right of the front door, I noticed the "Schwag Board." It contained
17 Washington drivers' licenses, which I asked about. Sweet Christie told me
they were all "people who have burned us."
On a more positive note, a sign in the lobby indicates that patients who donate
four food items (which are given to charity) get a "fat Suzie joint."
The bud room itself was tiny, but within its cramped confines was a good selection
of more than 30 strains. Sweet Christie was very familiar with the varieties, including
their placement on the indica/sativa scale, and was quite helpful as I selected Fucking
Incredible (discreetly labeled "F.I."), Steve's Blueberry, Dr. Brain Haze, and Grape Ape.
Top-shelf strains like the ones I picked are available for a donation of $15 a gram;
there are also strains available for $12, $10, and $8 a gram.
If you name a strain Fucking Incredible, it had better be good. F.I., an indica
dominant originally developed on Vancouver Island, lived up to its billing, from
the spectacular fruity scent to the sweet taste to the stupefyingly pain-relieving effects.
Steve's Blueberry (Suzie Q's had two batches of Blueberry, from two different growers)
was also choice, with the sweet bouquet of its namesake and a potent, energizing wallop.
Dr. Brain Haze had a dank, almost cedar smell and an uplifting sativa buzz, making it
a good choice for first medication of the day.
Grape Ape's deeply purple buds were redolent of grape Kool-Aid and delivered a
soporific indica body-buzz, moving pain to the back burner.
Suzie Q's is at 12710 Aurora Ave. N., phone 650-2232, website mysuzieqs.com.
It's open daily from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.; don't forget to make an appointment to
ensure you actually get in.

I Go to Suzie Q’s (Dub, Skywalker,
Afi Goo, Jack Herer)

I am obsessed with variety. While this trait can be overwhelming or distracting at
times, as a Cannabis user I feel it is rewarded. We are presented with new crosses,
varietals, and esoteric strains only sought out by the most patient of growers…
it never stops! So as I mulled over which dispensaries to visit the Seattle area,
Suzie Q’s claim to ‘the greatest variety of strains’ in Seattle naturally jumped
out at me. Full review after the jump.

With over 30 (partial list here) available I wasn’t disappointed. All of the samples
neatly arranged by quality, each ‘class’ on 3 tiers (priced at 8$, 10$, 12$, and
15$ a gram). The clearly labeled jars had been sealed with a spice jar style lid,
allowing you experience the smell more accurately when shaken. On the bottom
shelf, look for the ‘garden variety’: a grab-bag of top shelf buds, at bottom shelf
prices (recommended for the vaporizer, also a great option for those rolling it up).
I was also given an unsolicited sample of a high-grade tincture she had available,
made with medical grade glycerin, a real treat. The way Suzie handled the visits
was professional and she displayed a wealth of knowledge in all the varietals
we discussed. The new patient will be reassured having medicine recommended
with such confidence, and it will be obvious that she takes great pride in her work.

So with over 40 choices available I ignored the cornucopia of alternative methods
and looked solely to the smoke (I’m still kid-on-christmas-morning excited about
the 2010BC Lowrider I picked up last month), so here it is:
Dub-A 12$ med that Suzie immediately responded with when I said I was looking
for a great ‘middle of the day’ smoke. I went through a Sativa-head phase a while
back, and had been taking a break to enjoy the other end of the spectrum. But now
I wanted to revisit my first love, and this middle shelf med delivered. Dub gave me
that ‘auto-pilot’ clarity I’m looking for when it’s time to bear down and get work
done. Perhaps a little too racy for just sitting around, the experience was only
positive when there was work to be done.
Skywalker (BlueberryxMazar)- This strain and I have had elusive relationship.
Long have I pined away over reviews and photos and never gotten to taste.
It was good to finally satiate my desire for this exceptionally well-bred (a cross
between two Cannabis Cup winners) Indica dominant. The buzz was very
pleasant, by the 2nd toke the feeling of a heavy blanket spread over me, my
mind limber and worry-free.
Afi Goo-Told Suzie that I was looking for a knock-me-down Indica from the
top shelf, and I got it. Smell alone will remind you why a top shelf exists, truly
incredible. Afi Goo delivered a night of low eyes and leisure. Despite the
heaviness of the med, I had a fluid and active, but relaxed conversation
with a good friend. I love that about top shelf meds, the more intense the
experience doesn’t equal impairment…full review
Jack Herer-Before I was out the door Suzie gave me a first-time-visitors gram.
My eyes lit up when I realized this would be my first of Jack Herer. I was very
excited to try this sought-after strain. The name speaks for itself, and the it
smelled and looked like it benefited from a caring grower. The wild, fantastical
appearance of this bud spoke to its legendary bag appeal, and the smell was
exceptional…full review
Suzie’s claim to connoisseur quality cannabis doesn’t just stop at her buds, each
gram I bought was weighed out as just one nug, each with excellent visual appeal.
I really appreciated this detail, I feel like its hard to get to know a strain when you
buy a small amount that has been picked apart for a spot-on weigh out. These small
details set a dispensary apart, and keep someone like me coming back.
(Ed. Note:  Suzie was my provider for this visit, and it took place at their
old North end location

RE: Review of Suzie Q's
Suzie Q's offers every first time visitor a free gram. Every single one! I have not revealed to a
provider that I will be reviewing their meds until AFTER the visit. My process is this:
-I go to a new collective
-I buy 1-2 to grams of 3-4 varietals
-over a week I sample them all in different situations
-the ones that stand out, or seem like they would be fun to write about, I set aside for review.
The ones I don't like as much, don't get the spotlight.
-I cross reference my review to other experiences, if my review seems accurate I do a few
final edits and post to my blog, and this forum
-I contact the provider, let them know their strain will appear in my review
-accept any additional information
-post the review

There have been a few collectives that have mentioned a free samples to review, if and
when this occurs, I am very invested in full disclosure, and will include that information
in the review.

Beside all that, my intentions for reviewing I only owe to my passion for writing, and
obsession with Cannabis-both play an integral part in my quality of life. My blog and
writing on this forum have only been for my enjoyment, if I benefit from it in the future
that'd be great, but it hasn't happened yet.

I hope you won't take offense to any of my future reviews, as I enjoy this community
of people and would not want to be in conflict with anyone in it. Thanks for read, and
look forward to my 'best of the bottom shelf' over the next couple weeks-I hope it
will be a reoccurring series.

I read that you are a grower-if you are also a provider I would love to make a
donation and check out your medicine. Who knows, maybe I'll never pay 15$ again Smile

Susie Q's Collective Seattle Review- Top Notch !
Well after hearing some glowing reviews of this place I had to join. I thought I had tried
about all clubs in my quest to review and help others find some safe, friendly and
education based collectives in great Puget Sound area.

Well let me tell you, Susue Q's in one visit went to join the few select co-ops on top
of my list of go to places.

First off, you do need an appointment to join or visit, however its painless and Susie
and her crew are friendly and welcoming even on short notice. You can usually get
in same day, however they do try and get people to make an appointment one day
ahead for planning and smaller wait times. And as the word gets out about this place
I expect them to outgrow there current location.

Ok, Location- Its near Northgate ave in N Seattle. Its in a commercial building and
has enough parking and easy to find when you call and are given address.

The location is safe and med size compared to like collectives in area. about the size
 of Green Hope.

Also Susie has decorated this funky place and its very neat and makes you feel like
you could hang out all day. However thats not what its for.

Plus there is a very cute kitten that welcomes you at the doorSmile

The join part is painless and free. They carefully and legally process your paperwork
in a seperate front room and then one at a time Susie takes you to the main room in clinic.

This is were the WOW happens. Susie as I was told has by far the MOST varietys
of ANY place I have ever been too including Cali clubs. She has currently 25 varietys
as well as about 25 other variety samples of stuff she is out of but usually has in stock
at one time or another. So there is samples of over 50 estimate varietys for you to see.

Then Suzie will take the time to ask what you need the meds for and will give clear
explanations of what varietys she thinks may help you. She also has a lighted big
magnifyer to show you the tricomes up close.

Suzie probably to date knows more about Medical MJ and the strains then just
about any Budtender or Meds expert I have met. She flat out knows her bud:

She also has a variety of medibles. She plans on bringing in from multiple vendors
to give her patients choice.

Plus I have to tell you, her medicine is some of the BEST I have seen to date.
Its top shelf in most cases.
Prices run from $5 for bud shake, $6 a gram, $10 a gram for most selections and some
top shelf is $15 a gram.

I think the best thing is Suzie's attitude and heart. You can tell she is a great
person and she makes it a fun adventure when you walk into her place.

Well there you have it,
Want a great place to get your Meds? Give Suzie a call.
You will thank me later. I PROMISE!
